ADSL Setup
There are two ways of configuring ADSL, firstly we encourage users to get the Ethernet router and not the USB router. Below are the two ways you can configure them.
Router Setup
ADSL routers are different from one another, below are the settings you will need to check to ensure that your router works.
Username: ispXXX@dsl512.isdsl.net
Password: will be supplied by HotOrange
Connection mode: PPPOE
Encapsulation: LLC
VPI: 8
VCI: 35
DNS 1: 168.210.2.2
DNS 2: 196.14.239.2
If your router has a firewall, enable it.
If you are running windows with SP2, then enable the windows firewall.
PPPoE Setup
- From the desktop, click on Start, then All Programs, then Accessories, then Comminucations. Select New Connection Wizard.
- Up comes the Wizard click Next to Continue
- Select to Connect to the Internet
- Click on setup my connection manually.
- I am using a broadband connection via an ADSL modem, using
- PPPoE as connection method(which is different to a modem connection).
- Define the name of your ISP, enter HotOrange ADSL
- Enter your username and password, as it has been assigned to you by HotOrange. Remember that it must be in lower case.
- Click on Finished .You can select to have on your desktop an icon for this connection.
